Tobacco Plants
'Catterton' is a "Maryland-type" tobacco that is
used for pipe and cigarette blending as well as for cigars. It is
reportedly a cross between 'White Burley' with 'Maryland
Broadleaf' and is resistant to black root rot. It also matures and
is ready for harvesting an average of seven to ten days earlier
than typical medium broadleaf varieties.
Bred by J.
E. McMurtrey and released by the Maryland Agricultural
Experimental Station.
